The following sixty men were recommended for bravery during the 22nd Battalion’s involvement in the fighting around Pozieres and Mouquet Farm during the Battle of the Somme in the summer of 1916.
Included within the awards are two foreign awards for bravery: the Cross of St.George presented to 1635 Pte Weston, and the Serbian Silver Medal presented to 1529 Pte Cook. In addition Lieut-Col Smith received the Distinguished Service Order, and 2416 Pte Thomas the Meritorious Service Medal .
