Case Studies

imageCombining information from published sources including CEW Bean’s Official History of Australia in the War of 1914-1918 together with data from the service records of the men of the 5th/22nd, case studies are being written to help further describe the life of an Australian Infantryman in the Great War.

The case studies cover the following subjects:

Demographics of an Australian Infantry Battalion during the Great War

Discipline within the AIF on the Western Front

Sickness & Disease: the impact of non-combat casualties on the fighting strength of the AIF in the First World War
